7 Essential Chrome Extensions I Use — And You Should Too
In this article, I cover 7 essential browser extensions I use, and why you should too!
Extensions should be used by everyone using the Chrome browser, not only does it improve productivity, they come in quite handy. Here are 7 essential Chrome Extensions I use (with links).

1. Return YouTube Dislike
This is a really useful extension for watching YouTube. A while ago, YouTube removed the ability for people to see the dislike count. But with this extension, you can see the dislikes and see which videos are actually worth your time!
2. Bitwarden
Bitwarden is a free password manager that is available on Mac, Windows and Linux, iOS and Android and on a variety of browsers including Chrome, Firefox and Brave. You can use this to securely store all your passwords. You only need to remember one master password, and with that you can access all your passwords for all your websites! This is free and can be synced with unlimited devices in the free version!
3. Dark Reader
Definitely the best extension on this list. Dark Reader allows you to have dark mode on any website. In fact, I’m using dark mode on Medium as I write this. Medium website users, you can use Dark Reader to make reading articles easy on your eyes. You can even turn certain websites to light mode with this. Lowkey the all-important extension everyone should have.
4. AdBlock / uBlock Origin
Want a break from the ads? If you tap now to watch a short vid- oops. The internet is full of ads these days, so if you want to read an article in peace or not get annoyed by YouTube’s 20 second unskippable ads, download an adblocker. Two really good ones are AdBlock and uBlock Origin. Both are solid ad-blockers that block ads on websites and YouTube.
5. VeePN
VeePN is a free VPN that you can use in Chrome itself. It has a bunch of free servers to connect to and it can do all VPNy things.
6. Google Dictionary
Google Dictionary is an extension that allows you to get the definition of a word when you double click it. So next time you see a word and are too lazy to Google it, just double click it!
7. Project Naptha
This is a pretty underrated extension, so basically this is an OCR (Optical character recognition), i.e. with this extension you can directly copy text from an image and paste it elsewhere. This is really useful, like you can copy text from images, say in a website and all. This may not a 100% work, but try it, its fun!
This wraps up my list for 7 essential Chrome extensions that I use — and you should consider using them too!
Note: most of these extensions should have support in other browsers too, so run a quick search to download it in your browser.
